Melissa Byington is president of the locum tenens division of CompHealth, a division of CHG Healthcare Services, one of the largest US healthcare staffing firms. She joined the company as a physician recruiter more than 18 years ago and took over her current role in 2011. Byington affects retention at the firm with a continued emphasis on training, transparency and trust; this year, 92% of CompHealth employees said they were engaged in their jobs, and the firm has ranked among Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the past six years. Byington also works to raise the profile of the locum tenens industry as president of the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations.
