Penmac Staffing Services President Paula Adams strives to create a culture based on strong relationships. Penmac, a woman-owned company for its first 22 years, has always had a majority of female employees. Now an employee-owned company, it prioritizes promotions from within; 27 of its 31 branches are managed by women, proportional to the number of female staff who start in entry-level positions. The company in 2014 met a long-term goal of exceeding $100 million in annual revenue and for the first time ranked on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest staffing firms in the US. Setting an example by giving back to the community, Adams is involved in Kiwanis, the Young Presidents’ Organization, the local Chamber of Commerce and Drury University’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium.
